Jewelry Care Guide
At Marlin Fine Jewelry, each piece represents more than craftsmanship—it’s a tribute to cherished memories. Follow these care instructions to ensure your jewelry remains a meaningful part of your life for years to come.
1. General Care for Daily Wear
Remove Jewelry During Activities: Avoid wearing jewelry during exercise, swimming, or housework to protect it from chemicals, impacts, and scratches.
Limit Chemical Exposure: Harsh chemicals including but not limited to acetone, chlorine, bleach, and ammonia can damage stones, metals, and adhesives used in our inlay process. Please keep these chemicals and others away from your piece at all times. Apply lotions, perfumes, and hairsprays before putting on your jewelry to prevent dulling of metals and inlays.
Temperature Extremes: Sudden temperature shifts may weaken adhesives and affect certain gemstones.
Handle with Care: Memorial jewelry, especially inlaid pieces, should be handled gently to avoid damage or unnecessary wear.
2. Cleaning and Polishing Tips
Use Mild Cleaners: Gently scrub your piece with soft toothbrush and mild dish soap (like Dawn), and thoroughly dry before storing in a safe dry place. Always avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive scrubbers as these can easily harm your piece.
Polishing Cloths: Maintain the shine of your piece by buffing with your included branded non-abrasive polishing cloth.
Annual Cleaning & Inspection: We recommend visiting a jeweler annually for professional cleaning and inspection to keep your jewelry in top condition.
3. Storage and Travel Precautions
Store Separately: Keep each piece in your included branded soft pouch or in a lined jewelry box to prevent scratching or tangling with other jewelry.
Protective Travel Cases: Use a dedicated jewelry travel case to keep your pieces safe when traveling.
4. Managing Wear and Scratches
Surface Scratches: All jewelry can develop surface scratches over time. Professional polishing can restore their original luster.
Polishing & Ultrasonic Cleaning: All Marlin jewelry incorporating crushed stone or ash inlays are safe for professional polishing and cleaning in ultrasonic cleaners; however, other gemstones in your piece may not be suitable. Please consult a local jeweler to ensure appropriate cleaning.
